All the LVT services you need in one place.

LVT stands for Luxury Vinyl Tiling and is one of the fastest growing flooring options available on the market today. In effect, it is a vinyl surface with a similar style to other materials such as real wood or stone flooring. However, LVT not only has a similar look to these surfaces, it also has numerous advantages that these materials can’t provide.

What is LVT?

LVT can be laid out in the shape of tiles or planks.  Made from multiple layers of PVC vinyl, it also uses additional compounds in order to add hardness to the surface. The vinyl sheets are compressed, liquid suspended and then dried in order to toughen the material.

The top layer can then be embossed, adding details such as grooves. This allows for a more realistic style that can mimic other materials such as stone or wood. A vinyl and urethane coating is then applied at the end of the process in order to increase the level of protection and comfort that the material can offer.

Advantages

LVT is waterproof,  making it a versatile material for both residential and commercial applications. It is very durable, as well as being warmer than other comparable materials, as well as being softer. There is also a vast array of design options available, so you can choose from a near limitless array of colours that can be best suited to your particular look that you have in mind.

Thinness

LVT can often be quite thin compared to other materials, often between 2 to 6mm thick, compared to laminate floors that can often be as much as 7-12mm. This is not an issue thought, as the reason that LVT can be so thin is due to its high density and strength, so there is no need for the material to be any thicker. This also means that installing LVT can be less disruptive for areas such as skirting or shower trays.

Moisture

LVT is ideal for rooms such as bathrooms due to the fact it does not absorb moisture and therefore won’t expand over time. This is why it is often commonly used in businesses like hair salons or yoga studios, where moisture absorption is frequently an issue.

Installation

LVT can be installed via a loose lay click setup or alternatively a system using a specialist underlay and glues. In both instances, you need to have a level sub-floor and  it is strongly recommended you use a professional in order to make sure that the surface is installed properly and safely.
